What is Onychomycosis?
It is a fungal infection of the nail (nail plate or nail bed). These fungi may be present in one or more nails either on the hands or feet and most of the time cause deformation and changes in the yellowish and/or whitish coloration, brittle or irregular of the nail causing a bad appearance and/or pain. If this is not treated in time, the fungus could spread either within the nail itself and go deeper and deeper or to other nails. A fungal nail infection can lead to more serious problems if you have diabetes or a weak immune system.
Why have a nail fungus treatment with us?
In general your doctor may recommend the use of topical (tioconazole, amorolfine or ciclopirox) and systemic (terbinafine or itraconazole) antifungals, but these treatments are usually unsuccessful or take a long time, even years. Also, the nail may not look the same as it did before the infection if you only use antifungals.
