What is PRP?
The benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma were first discovered in athletes, who were able to recover after injury and return to their sports faster than with medication or physical therapy alone.
Although blood is primarily a liquid, it also contains solid components such as red and white blood cells and platelets. While platelets are primarily recognized for their ability to clot blood, they also contain important growth factors that can be used to regenerate tissues in the body.
PRP is a sample of the patient’s blood that has been centrifuged in a centrifuge. This separates the blood components, resulting in an enriched plasma with a higher concentration of platelets than normal.
Once the centrifugation process is complete, the PRP is extracted from the remaining blood sample and injected into treated areas or applied topically.
How is it applied?
When used in conjunction with cosmetic treatments such as facial rejuvenation and hair restoration, PRP has several benefits:
Facial rejuvenation – the growth factors in PRP, which are used on their own or with other skin rejuvenation treatments, as they can promote the production of new collagen, elastin and blood vessels in the treated areas to create smoother, softer skin and restore the natural glow.
Hair restoration – for male and female patients experiencing premature hair loss, PRP has been shown to help stimulate hair growth in the affected areas. PRP is injected into the scalp to create new tissue growth at the root.
What are the benefits of PRP?
In addition to naturally stimulating healthy tissue growth, PRP has other benefits for patients, including:
Minimally invasive treatment that allows patients to return to normal activities immediately.
PRP is your body’s own tissue, which eliminates the risk of complications and adverse reactions when reintroduced into your body.
Unlike other rejuvenation treatments that only provide temporary improvement, PRP stimulates new tissue growth for continuous improvement over time.
Other than slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site, PRP has no significant side effects.
During your consultation with our medical team, several factors will be considered to determine if PRP treatment is right for you and your skin.
